From substitute fuels to a holistic recycling concept.
When Gisbert Schulte-Bücker established energenta in 2003, his aim was to convert plastic production scrap into clean, quality-assured substitute fuels for industrial power generation. Together with his business partner, Martin Brinkschmidt, he turned the fledgling company into energenta ersatzbrennstoffe one year later. The two founders soon broadened their activities. Having originally set out to produce substitute fuels, they went on to develop holistic recycling concepts which conserve increasingly valuable resources by returning plastics to production cycles. Growth and the establishment of additional firms were – and still are – the natural consequences of this. Now, the energenta Group comprises five companies in Germany and one in Romania.
